In sunscreen, titanium dioxide isn’t tucked away in the fine print — it’s one of the active ingredients. So this page works a little differently.
There are only two mineral UV filters: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. That means a titanium dioxide–free mineral sunscreen is simply one that uses zinc oxide on its own — and that’s what this page focuses on. We’ve deliberately left chemical (non-mineral) sunscreens off it. They don’t contain titanium dioxide either, but they’re a different kind of product, and this directory is for people who want to keep things mineral and simple.
The upside: titanium dioxide is easy to check here. When it’s used, it has to be declared in the “Active Ingredients” panel — so you’re looking for a single line that says zinc oxide, with no titanium dioxide listed beside it.

Plenty of mineral sunscreens combine zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, so “mineral” on its own doesn’t mean titanium dioxide–free — the Active Ingredients panel is what settles it. It’s also worth watching the format: with some brands the lotion is zinc-only while the spray isn’t.
