Make Clean Beauty a part of your New Year’s resolution this 2021!
Did you know that you could be applying an average of 168 chemicals to your face and body each day? According to research by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), these chemicals come from products that range from personal care products to cosmetics to feminine hygiene products and everything in between.
You don’t need to be a chemist or a dermatologist to care about the ingredients in your beauty products (especially if it’s causing harm to your health).
I'm sure that's something you'd like to change in 2021 so we've created this handy little guide to going green in 2021.
We realise it can be overwhelming investing in new products and even figuring out where to start. The good news is that you don’t have to break the bank to go clean! ;) Let us offer some suggestions to guide you on your journey to transitioning to Clean Beauty.
Here are some tips to help with your switch to Clean Beauty in 2021:
First things first! Go through all your beauty products and start decluttering. Start sorting through all the products you own and get rid of anything that isn't highly crucial to your regimen.
Just keep the essentials! ;) Toss any expired products as well as the items that you never use. (I know! :P) No one likes to get rid of anything they've spent money on, but if it's just taking up space in your vanity, it might be time to say goodbye.
If you see ingredients you’ve never heard of, take a minute to look up its potential side-effects! Labels will also tell you if the product is certified cruelty-free and derived from natural sources.
You can look up each ingredient’s toxicity on the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Database.
And familiarise yourself with the Dirty Dozen so you can avoid those nasties! ;)
You’ll notice that some of your products will rank higher than others. Rank them going from most toxic to least and consider swapping out the most toxic first.
You don’t have to swap all your products at once. Consider easing into it instead of diving right in, so it’ll be easier and less stressful for you as well. Take it one product at a time! ;)
Look for brands that verify their products for non-toxicity and use mostly organic and non-toxic ingredients.
Just like us here at MG Naturals, we are proud to be CertClean certified, so you can rest assured that our products are formulated without potentially harmful ingredients. We are also certified by Safe Cosmetics Australia for being Cruelty Free, Vegan, Allergy Free, Toxic Free, & Made Safe. So you don't just have to take our word for it :)
Before committing on a full size product. Try samples first, to make sure you have selected the right shade and formulation for your skin.
Samples take all the stress out of choosing your perfect non toxic makeup & skincare! ;) And for a limited time only, take advantage of our Starter Sample Pack for FREE - Just Pay Postage! Just enter the code 3samples at checkout for your complimentary samples. ;)
You don’t need to throw out all the cosmetics you have in your beauty stash right now. Just replace them as they run out. It’s also a good idea to introduce one product at a time every couple of weeks or so, as this makes it easier to see the product’s effects and to pinpoint any source of irritation should it occur.
Switching to Clean Beauty this new year, no matter how long it takes to overhaul your beauty stash, is worth it. You cannot put a price on health. Go all in knowing that your wellbeing, as well as the safety of your loved ones, are worth the time, research and resources. If you hit a roadblock or need a companion for the road, I'm here for you! ;) (Feel free to shoot us a message if ever you have any questions)
Be kind to yourself and remember Beauty should never come at the cost of your health! ;)
