Homemade makeup: 2 DIY foundation recipes to try.

If you’re a makeup-lover like me, you probably already know that the world of foundation can be a difficult one to navigate. From finding your Correct shade match to getting the right formula, and also knowing which one works for your skin type, Why not make it yourself?

DIY FOUNDATION #1: CREAM

1 spoon mineral makeup.
3 Spoons of Facial moisturizer (alternatively you could use an oil)

For this recipe, all you’ll need is an existing mineral foundation. I used Mg Naturals in the shade of sand beige and a lotion or thick moisturizer. For this I used my own home made moisturiser. Essentially, you’re transforming a mineral makeup into a liquid cream, and it’s Very easy. All you’ll need to do is add a few spoons of the mineral powder to a facial lotion or moisturizer. Mix it and apply! any leftovers? just spoon it into a sandwich bag and pop it in the fridge for later use!

    DIY FOUNDATION #2: POWDER

    1/4 cup arrowroot powder
    1/4 cup kaolin clay
    1 tsp Cocoa powder
    1 tsp Cinnamon
    1 tsp Turmeric powder

The ingredients are surprisingly easy to find and affordable. To create your own powder foundation, you’ll need arrowroot powder, kaolin clay, cinnamon, turmeric and cocoa powder.

Here’s how to get the mixture correct for you. You’ll need equal parts kaolin clay and arrowroot powder. After that, you add the cocoa powder, turmeric and cinnamon to get your shade as close as possible to your skin tone. It’s that simple. I used about a Teaspoon of each but it's really up to you and what shade you are trying to achieve.

      End result!

DO I THINK IT'S WORTH IT TO MAKE YOUR OWN FOUNDATION?

If you’ve been curious about making your own foundation- It was fun to make, My verdict however: It’s better left to the professionals. The best recipe in my opinion by far was the first, converting mineral makeup into a liquid foundation, and I definitely recommend it to make a product more versatile. Not only do you have a foundation that you know will match your complexion, but you’re also using a moisturizer that’s good for you at the same time.

In conclusion, with all the quality and clean foundations on the market, homemade foundation may not be where it’s at after all! but hey give it a go and let us know what you think!
