I often get emails asking if our products contain nanoparticles.

The long & short answer is 100% NO, Never, No way!!

We use no mineral particles in nano size at all. ๐Ÿšซย We are independently certified by several bodies likeย CertCleanย & Safe Cosmetics Australia in regards to this. ๐Ÿ’š

Why should you avoid nanoparticles in your beauty products?

While Nanotechnology sounds amazing. It promises mascara that will never run, lipstick which can last for days, moisturiser which will keep your skin smooth for a week at a time, and foundation which needs only one thin layer to cover everythingโ€ฆ (sorry to burst your bubble) but nanoparticles in cosmetics have been linked to a multitude of health problems.ย

Thereโ€™s no doubt that nanoparticles is an exciting innovation, but should a process used to make metals andย plasticsย really be applied to your beautiful sensitive skin?ย

The use of nanoparticles remains unregulated and they do not show up in ingredient lists. They are tricky to measure and most alarmingly, they can penetrate cells and accumulate in our organs!!

โ€œIt could be that you are already using nanomaterials in your food, clothes, cosmetic products, etc., but you still don't see any mention of them in the ingredient list. Why? Because they are still unregulated and because they are so small that we simply can't measure them once they're in your products." -ย Dr Fazel A. Monikh

You probably think you don't use nano products, but the sad truth is that you most likely have already. Ever wondered why your sunscreen doesnโ€™t leave a white cast? Itโ€™s because of the Titanium Dioxide nanoparticles.ย

The most alarming thing about nano-sized titanium dioxide (a Level 2 Carcinogen), is that those particles can accumulate in your skin & organs and be there for the rest of your life, causing inflammation that your body continually has to try to deal with.

Nanoparticles are so small that they can penetrate into appendageal structures, like hair follicles & the stratum corneum, theoretically entering the body, andย may damage your DNA.

There is an increasingย amount of evidence that these materials can badly affect the skin, damaging DNA and cell function by the production of free radicals when exposed to UV light โ€“ which we are all exposed to when we go outside.ย

ย

What to do?

While we are left largely in the dark when it comes to knowing whether or not nanoparticles are in our beauty products. The only choice left for an informed and responsible consumer like yourself is to useย beauty products that specifically state that there are no nanoparticles present.ย
