Founder notes: what I'm seeing, questioning and standing by

By Kailah Shannon — Founder of MG Naturals. Cosmetic Formulator since 2014.

Last updated: 5 May 2026

QUICK ANSWER

This is a living page — written and updated by Kailah Shannon, founder and cosmetic formulator of MG Naturals — capturing reflections, regulatory updates, and clarifications on the titanium dioxide conversation as it evolves. It exists because the science doesn't sit still, and neither does the marketing around it. New "non-nano" claims, new "clean" brands quietly using TiO₂, new regulatory shifts. I'd rather keep this page alive than freeze a statement in time.

This is where I write the things that don't fit on a product page.

Why this page exists

The conversation around titanium dioxide doesn't sit still. New studies. New "non-nano" marketing. New "clean" brands quietly using it anyway. New regulatory shifts. I'd rather keep this page alive than freeze a statement in time.

What you'll find here

  • • Reflections when industry talking points shift
  • • Clarification when claims start circulating
  • • Updates on regulation, evidence, or formulation thinking
  • • Things I've stopped letting slide
  • • Things I'm still working on

What this isn't

It's not trend-chasing. It's not fear-bait. It's not marketing dressed as concern. It's the founder of a brand saying here is what I'm seeing, and here is where I still stand.

A note from Kailah

I didn't build MG Naturals to follow the "beauty industry. I built it because I couldn't ignore what I was learning about it.

That has meant more work. More reformulation. More explaining. More standing apart from brands that have thirty times my marketing budget.

I'd rather build slowly with conviction than quickly with compromises I can't defend to my own daughters."

Frequently asked questions

How often is this page updated?

Quarterly at minimum, and any time a major peer-reviewed study or regulatory decision changes the picture. The "last updated" stamp at the top of every page in this library reflects the most recent review.

Can I suggest a topic or question for this page?

Yes — please. Email kailah@mgnaturals.com or DM us on Instagram @mgnaturals. The best questions in this library came from customers, not from us.

Will MG Naturals ever change its position on titanium dioxide?

Only if the peer-reviewed evidence shifts substantially. We follow the science — not the trend, not the lobbying, not the regulatory minimum. If new high-quality evidence demonstrated that TiO₂ in cosmetics is safe at lifetime daily exposure, we would consider it. That is not where the evidence sits today.

Is Kailah a qualified formulator?

Yes. Kailah Shannon has been formulating cosmetic and skincare products since 2014, with formal training in cosmetic chemistry and natural product formulation. Every product in the MG Naturals range is developed and tested by her personally.

Does MG Naturals work with independent labs?

Yes. All MG Naturals products undergo independent stability testing, microbial challenge testing, and ingredient compatibility verification through accredited Australian laboratories. Lot-by-lot batch records are kept on file.

Where can I follow updates to the library?

Subscribe to our newsletter at mgnaturals.com or follow @mgnaturals on Instagram. We post when major library updates go live, and walk through any new evidence or regulatory shifts in plain English.
